It’s raised its head again!! Selling products to unsuspecting people online to make a quick quid!

As far as online spats go between influencers this has been quite a good one!

It goes something like this! I’ll keep it to 5 steps!

1. Glamour Model and TV Personality decides to sell weight loss product online to however many hundreds of thousands of followers to make money.

2. Popular influencer in the Fitness industry calls them out as the product has no evidential efficacy. And they know what they are talking about. And they give a shit.

3. Seller doesn’t like it and calls the bullying card.

4. Fitness chap responds. Very very well.

5. Seller posts massively confusing message with huge contradictions still promoting the efficacy of their product, stating false science, stating it is not a weight loss product and you need a calorie deficit!

There you go 5 steps! Whoop Whoop!

When online rows like this happen it is great for us ‘little’ people. The confusion and arguments mean questions about the topic filter down, because ‘the people’ actually ask us what the truth is, as they are not sure what to believe. Hence this post!

The supplement in questions is Exogenous Ketones!!!

This is a dietary supplement that, upon taking is supposed to help you enter in to a state of Ketosis quicker than if you were to do so naturally.

Promoted benefits of a Ketonic state are faster fat mass loss as your body has to use fat to create ketone bodies to use for energy, instead of using glycogen because you have depleted those stores.

Sounds great right? If you are looking to lose weight here is a pill that you can buy off of a TV Personality to get you in to the best shape of your life! Wait….!

There is so much wrong with that statement! It’s kinda like Asking Mystic Meg about origins of the universe instead of Brian Cox!

However… Getting into ketosis is not easy. It certainly does not happen in 1 hour. You have to really lower your glycogen (stored sugar) levels first. That takes time and requires a very restrictive diet of cutting out carbs.

AN ENTIRE FOOD GROUP! Why the Fuck would you do that? Carbs are frickin’ awesome!

You then have to stay there! Imagine socialising on a carb free, high fat diet! No thanks!

And as a soon as you slip up you can come out of it.

So aside from the fact that cutting an entire food group from your diet, and I know it has been stated that this particular product means you CAN eat carbs, you can’t. Keto is NOT your body’s go to, #1 way to produce the energy it needs.

It is a back up system. And a brilliant one. But a back up nonetheless.

In very simple terms, when you eat and metabolise Carbs a chemical is produced that aides in the release of your fat mass. You see the way we like to use and produce energy is a very complex and dynamic system.

DO NOT FUCK WITH IT!

If you create a calorie deficit, through eating ALL the food groups in as natural and wholesome way as you can and are nice and active, you have set yourself on the path to sustainable weight loss. There is no weight loss difference between the diets of Keto and eating carbs when TOTAL ENERGY INTAKE IS THE SAME.

There is also no evidence confirming the supplementation of Ketones aides in the fat loss in humans. None. It doesn’t matter what it does to a Rats fatty liver, or what happens in a test tube!

Much of that shit never transfers in to that same result in humans, as is the case here!

Selling Exo Ketones online to trusting and easily influenced people that trust you is a total sell out! Especially if you have limited education on the product itself.

Taking Ketones does not work for fat loss.
You cannot eat many carbs in ketosis.
You cannot enter Ketosis in 1 hour.
Ketosis has show excellent results for those suffering with epilepsy.
Selling Ketone supps is a dick move.
Take your dietary advice from people who are qualified in nutrition.
Eat carbs, you need them in your life.

Mic drop!
