Let’s do a little bit on Keto!



It’s no secret I’m not a fan of this diet protocol. 

But actually, that is not true.. 

I’m not a fan of the way fucktards in the fitness and health industry promote it as some form of wonder diet that somehow turns you into a ‘fat burning machine!’ 

As it is not as simple as that! 

But when you are trying to swindle a few quid out of someone, to sell your plan or have a new book coming out, it helps to pretend you have found the holy grail of fat loss… 

Even though Keto has been studied for years! 

Ketogenic diets have shown promise for people with Epilepsy and potential for helping women with PCOS.

So as with many things, it definitely has a place to help. 

But what is KETO?

Simply put, it is a diet purely made up of fat and protein. In the absence of carbs – your bodies preferred fuel source – it uses fat to produce ‘Ketone bodies’. In essence it is your bodies back up system, a way to produce sugar like substances from non-sugar sources, that it can use to fuel itself when carbs are scarce. 

BRILLIANT brilliant system! 

But for fat loss!

NOPE!!! 

Here’s why! 

YOU NEED A CALORIE DEFICIT!

If I need 3000kcals to maintain my weight, it does not matter if I am in ketosis, if I eat 3500, I WILL gain weight…. 

KETO is not for weight loss, KETO is a natural survival mechanism bastardised by the health and fitness industry to make a few quid! 

You only lose fat mass when in a calorie deficit, but are you a fat burning machine? 

Well yes, if that’s the only food you feed yourself! But what do you expect your body to do?

If you eat fat you will use that dietary fat for fuel. You will still store excess and use body fat when in deficit.

DUH!!!

Plus KETO means your diet is massively restricted as we like to eat carbs socially, your breath will stink, and you will wanna talk more about it than Vegans or CrossFitters.

BTW I also CrossFit!! 

YAWN!!!! 

So yet again the message is clear! 

If you want to lose fat! Get into a deficit first, eating the foods you are used to, to begin with. 

You don’t need to go KETO…
